Winter is here. It is quiet, and the nights are long. We have tons of snow (we love snow in Vermont) finally. It is time to knit, read a book, cook a complicated meal, and spend time with the people you love. Soon enough spring will bring a million projects, for now it is time to enjoy the frozen simplicity of winter.

I have been a potter for 35 years. I have been making the ceramic plaques with sayings on them for about 20 years. I love making the plaques because they are a doorway into people's lives and relationships. Although I loved making mugs and dishes by hand for people to use in their daily lives I find I connect with my customers a lot more intimately through the plaques.
It seems we are all trying to support each other and show our love for our family and friends in new ways all the time. I especially love using humor to help accept tricky situations.
The newer rectangle plaques are especially fun for me because they appeal to men and women. This opens up a new world of sayings.
As our lives change the sayings we want change so the possibilities are endless.
I still love to get dirty working with clay and my staff every day while I invent new words and phrases and products.
I am a pretty lucky girl!
