I spoke with a woman today who ordered 2 “lipstick” plaques for herself and her sister. It was a conversation that represents everything Mountaine Meadows Pottery is about. She had bought a “lipstick” plaque for her mother, because, as she told me, her Mom always felt that as long as she had a fresh application of lipstick she looked fine and was ready to face the world. As a little girl she remembered her Mom feeling ready to take her to school even if she was still in her housecoat, as long as she had “put on a little lipstick”.
When her Mom passed away her Mountaine Meadows plaque was there at her funeral, with a tube of lipstick. Then when she and her sister, both exhausted and worn out from the trials of managing their Mom’s passing, both disappeared into the bathroom and then reappeared with fresh lipstick, they realized that they had become their Mom.
There was a problem though, their Mom’s plaque had been misplaced. We were SO pleased to be able to provide them with 2 new plaques.
