Fathers Day

Unlike Mothers Day, Fathers Day creeps up on us. There just isn’t as much hoopla about it. But Dads appreciate the attention just as much as Moms, maybe more.

The new rectangle plaques we are making here at Mountaine Meadows make perfect gifts for Dad. They stand on a desk or counter and they can also be hung on the wall.

If your Dad is the one who fixes everything he will definitely laugh at the “let me work on your problem” saying. Then again, he may be the type to hide in his “man cave” .

Then there is the gift for your son who is also a Father! We really have a great plaque saying for that one!

I suspect you will find loads of possibilities for your Dad. Take a peek at the Fathers Day section and have a good laugh on us!

Enjoy,

Wine A Bit, You’ll Feel Better

I have noticed people buying groups of 8, and sometimes more, plaques with sayings about wine.

It got me thinking that there must be some “wine tasting friends” out there who are getting together on a regular basis. So I began to look further into how people are “expanding” their friendships by meeting with their friends to drink wine. Well, I have discovered there are plenty!

What a fabulous idea!

Even here at Mountaine Meadows, Sheila meets once a week with her 3 sisters and Mom to drink wine and visit.  There is a rumor that they are supposed to be doing rug hooking also, but that seems to be secondary to the wine drinking. She brings this plaque along to inspire the right mood, and I guess her Dad wanted it last week to give to a friend.

There are a few awesome sites for people who want to set up this kind of group. The one called Gottannins.com  was my favorite. It seems pretty simple: all you have to do is, 1. invite a few people over, 2. pick a wine producing region that you want to experiment with, tell everyone to bring a bottle of wine, 3. start tasting!

Here’s a blog about wine that looks extremely deep. It reviews an enormous variety of wines and has numerous links to other blogs and groups! It’s called The Blog Wine Cellar. It is certainly worth a visit.

But, back to the plaques…..

Mountain Meadows has both blue and brown plaques geared towards wine drinkers.

If you belong to a group of wine drinkers, we may have the perfect gift for you to share with your wine drinking friends. And…. the “deal” we have is great for buying multiples as gifts, because if you choose 3 plaques, you can pick another one and get it FREE.

Happy sipping,

Deborah

Mothers Day

I love Mothers’ Day.  Of the 12 people who currently work at Mountaine Meadows, 9 are Mothers and 3 are grandmothers. That tells you a lot about our staff I guess. We have had 5 babies born in the last 3 years and have one due at the end of May!

That’s Alissa on the right, mixing clay, she is 6 months pregnant in this picture!

One of the things I love the best about Mothers’ Day though is providing people with sentimental gifts for their Moms, from the electricians who work on our kilns, to the little boys who appear at our door, from time to time, looking for clay to play with. they all respond well when I remind them of the approaching holiday.
In this spirit, we are offering a Mothers’  Day special of shipping for just $2.00. You can ship any amount of plaques via United States Postal Service priority shipping, even just one, to a single address and pay just $2.00. Check out our special Mothers’ Day category for ideas.

But here are 2 of my favorites, both for daughters!

If you are interested in finding out more about the history of Mothers’ Day you can check it out on Wikipedia. It’s nice to know that it wasn’t invented by Hallmark Cards after all, but was meant to be a day intended as a call to unite women against war when it was first celebrated in 1872.

Happy Mothers’ Day from all of us Mothers at Mountaine Meadows Pottery.
